Great mixers for your feeding needs

By Kesly Porter Ellis

We’re mixing it up this issue with impressive vertical mixing machines from NDEco, Kuhn Knight, and Haybuster. Whether you are mixing rations for thousands of cattle in a feedlot, or just feeding out a few head of your own, these machines are sure to fit your operation’s needs.

NDEco S500L

Loading mixers using a skid steer is popular among many working ranch operations. NDEco is aware of this fact and as a result produced the S500L Vertical Mixer. Standing at 100” (12” shorter than other mixers in the series) the S500L is the perfect height for producers who prefer to load with a skid loader or conditions where overhead clearance is limited. Unimproved gravel roads, muddy pens and large equipment are often a terrible combination; however the S500L can be equipped with either a single or walking tandem axle. This design improves the mixer’s general stability no matter the terrain or conditions. A 410 cu ft. capacity and 9 (max) knives ensure that you can mix the quantity of feed you need in an efficient amount of time. Learn more about this impressive piece of equipment at www.ndeco.com.

Kuhn Knight 1165 (VXL 100 series)

The all-new VXL 100 Series triple-auger mixers from Kuhn Knight are specifically designed to feed more cattle per load, improving time efficiencies. Lots of moving parts and daily use often leave you spending more time trying to be a mechanic and less time actually feeding. But the rugged VXL 100 series is built tough enough to withstand the commercial operation’s rough conditions with only minimal routine maintenance. A 134” height maximizes load capacity without being so tall that it is a headache to load. Three augers, a 1650 cu. ft. capacity and a maximum load of 54,450 really complete the package on this impressive Kuhn mixing series. Haybuster CMF-980

The Haybuster CMF-980 is a perfect example of the durability and quality that producers have come to know and trust. Capable of feeding in a variety of circumstances and locations (bunks, mangers, on the ground or a conveyor) this vertical mixer is designed to cut and mix forage quickly and efficiently. Standing 11’ 2” tall with a mixing capacity of 980 cu. ft. (with extensions) the CMF-980 is easy to load and large enough to reduce the number of trips you have to make. Two augers and self-sharpening knives make mixing and cutting simple and quick. Observation windows located on both sides of the mixer make it simple to check cut size and/or mix. Penta 6730

The Penta 6730 is a working ranch mixing machine with enough customizations to make this vertical mixer the perfect match for your operation. A power-packed Hurricane Auger coupled with your choice of one or two knives will ensure that your cattle are fed quickly and efficiently. There are also many customizations available for conveyers, including a dual discharge conveyor. Tandem, single, brake and steering axles are available with the 6730, and both a 9” and 16” tub extension are available. Penta’s high quality mixers come with customization options that allow you to build the mixer that fits your operation and conditions even down to the smallest details. NDEco, Kuhn Knight, Haybuster and Penta have put together some impressive machines to fill your operation’s vertical mixing needs. Whether you’re feeding a large quantity of cattle in a bunk, feeding out some calves in the pasture or just need a machine to mix up some rations for your replacements you can be sure that these vertical mixers will fit your needs.
