You’re gonna love these marvelous manual chutes
Whether it’s because there isn’t electricity where you’re working or you just prefer the simplicity and reliability of a chute powered by elbow grease – sometimes you need a good manual chute. WR squeezed some sources for information on the latest and greatest in manual chutes. Here’s what we found.
Powder River
When it comes to manual operation, Powder River has options in their 1500 and 2000 series chutes. The M1500 Manual Squeeze Chute comes equipped with Powder River’s tried and true head gate, formerly used in their legendary XL Manual Chute. The M1500 features an easy-to-use roll-door tail gate, double sided center squeeze and a side release door on the squeeze.
The M1500 chute is not rated for cattle larger than 1500 pounds. However, its bigger brothers in the 2000 series are big enough to handle cattle of any shape or size, including mature bulls.
Powder River’s 2000 series includes several different manual options, featuring a variety of head gate styles with and without the additional stabilizer for extra head and neck control. For more details on Powder River’s Manual Chute Selection, visit – www.powderriver.com
Filson Livestock Equipment
Heavy duty is the name of Filson’s manual chute game as their manual chute selection includes their Automatic Heavy Duty Chute and the CX Heavy Duty Chute. Both chutes come standard with centrally located controls for one man operation, easy adjustments for cattle of all sizes, as well as automatic or manual head gate settings.
Both the Automatic and CX Heavy Duty Chutes have the option to be portable or stationary, set up for more permanent use in one location. And both chutes can be equipped with the optional nose bar.
The CX Heavy Duty Chute’s bigger frame and butts stops, which are unique to this model, are what set it apart from Filson’s Automatic Heavy Duty Model. Check out more of what Filson has to offer by visiting -www.filsonlivestockequip.com.
Priefert
Designed to be “easy on the cow, easy on the cowboy,” Priefert has manual chutes to fit just about any operation and budget. All Priefert chutes are equipped with contoured upper access panels and infinite locking systems on the head gates and squeeze, ensuring a comfortable fit for animals of any size. Each chute also features a side exit gate.
The big daddy of the Priefert line-up is the SO4 heavy duty Squeeze Chute. The SO4 is 87 inches long and features Priefert’s Model 91 Headgate, which can operate in manual or automatic catch mode. The dual control, “split tailgate” can be operated from the front or rear of the chute and with the pull of a pin, half the tailgate can be disengaged to make a smaller, calf-sized entrance into the chute.
At 81 inches long and featuring the fully manual Model 64 Headgate and side-slide tailgate, the SO1 Squeeze Chute is the most economical choice in Priefert’s line-up. The SO191 Squeeze Chute combines the SO1 Squeeze Chute with the Model 91 Headgate for the “economy-minded rancher looking for a few extra features.”
Priefert also has a few additional options available to further accessorize their chutes – options such as blinders, palpation cages, and carriage trailers to name a few. To learn more about Priefert Squeeze Chutes and their accessories, visit – www.priefert.com.
